Sara Ramirez

Sara Ramirez was born in Mexico. She's an American-Mexican actress. She also sings. Her mother raised her throughout the USA she faced numerous racial insults that made her feel being a bit unpopular. In the ninth grade, after a school audition where she received praises for her voice as she built confidence. The event not only helped to boost her confidence, but also changed the direction she was heading in her life. She attended New York's Julliard School at the age of 22. In 1993 she had her Broadway debut in Paul Simon's The Capeman. Her first film was called You've Got Mail. Her biggest breakthrough was when she played the character of The Lady of The Lake in the original Broadway performance of Spamalot garnering not only an award called the Tony Award for her performance but also a flurry of praise from critics. The following year, she appeared as Callie Torres on Grey's Anatomy on ABC, she gained greater appreciation. As a professional singer and producer, she's produced one single and an extended piece. Also, she's an activist and fights in the fight for LGBT rights.
